Pears and Cranberries

Spiced Tea Poached Pears

Ingredients


  • 50g Golden Caster Sugar
  • 1 tbsp clear Honey
  • 2 Spiced tea bags (Your choice!)
  • 1 tbsp recurrant or cranberry jelly
  • 4 firm pears, halved and core removed
  • Fresh Cranberries, if dried soak in tea-mix first.
  • Yoghurt, ice-cream or whipped cream to serve

Method


  1. Put sugar, honey, jelly and tea bags into saucepan with 600ml of water. Boil to dissolve the sugar.
  2. If using dried cranberries you will want to soak them until soft at this stage.
  3. Add the pear halves, cover and simmer for around 12-15 mins until tender.
  4. Remove the pears. Add the cranberries (fresh or pre-soaked) and boil until syrup thickens.
  5. Discard the tea bags. Serve the pears with the syrup poured over and yoghurt or/and ice-cream.
